Iron Mountain Digital Expands Market Presence in Japan with Introduction of LiveVault® Server Backup and Recovery Service.
Award Winning Storage-as-a-Service Offering to be Sold by NS-ELEX, Kaga Solution Network and Other Systems Integrators

Tokyo (Mar. 17, 2009) – Iron Mountain Digital K.K. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Garth Ramsey), the Japanese subsidiary of Iron Mountain Digital, the leading provider of Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS)¹ for backup and archiving, will expand its solution portfolio by introducing the award-winning LiveVault® server data backup and recovery service, effective April 1st. For businesses, the LiveVault solution simplifies the process of protecting servers – including file, database, application and Microsoft Exchange servers – virtually eliminating the risks and burdens of traditional backup methods. In addition, Japanese businesses have confidence knowing their data stored and protected in local, secure data centers.

¹ STaaS: Abbreviation for Storage-as-a-Service, where storage-related services are delivered in a hosted, online delivery model.

“Iron Mountain Digital has been helping hundreds of companies in Japan protect their PC data since 2001,” says John Clancy, president, Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain Incorporated, (NYSE:IRM). “Now with the introduction of our LiveVault service for server backup, Japanese companies can take advantage of additional enterprise Storage-as-a-Service solutions from Iron Mountain to improve the effectiveness of how they protect their critical business data.”

Today companies of all sizes struggle to protect their server data effectively, especially those that reside in remote locations. Traditional daily backup methods are vulnerable to data loss, and companies have trouble recovering quickly in the event of data corruption, viruses or other disasters. By automatically and securely protecting data online, the LiveVault service allows corporations to improve the reliability of their backups, allowing IT staff to perform other mission-critical tasks, while being reassured that their data will be available if necessary.

"NS-ELEX has a reputation of quality and innovation, and we are very pleased to be representing the LiveVault service to our customers in Japan; in addition, we intend to use this amazing service to protect our own servers," said Mr. Haruhiko Okumura, president of NITTETSU ELEX Co., Ltd.,(NS-ELEX). "Japanese companies appreciate quality and proven solutions, and Iron Mountain Digital's leadership in the Storage–as–a–Service model is the reassurance that our customers need when it comes to protecting their critical business data."

Key features of the LiveVault service include:
Continuous backup: Continuously and securely protects server data, from any location, ensuring complete recovery after a loss.
Fully automated backup: Backups occur automatically over the Internet or via a private network connection. No manual staff intervention is required.
Rapid recovery: Unique DeltaRestore technology automatically recovers only the data that has changed since the last backup, accelerating recovery so the user can resume operations almost immediately after a data loss.
Built-in protection of open files and databases: Provides built-in support for open file and database backup without complex plug-ins or costly third-party tools.
Web-based management: Through a Web portal interface, users have point-and-click access to their data - at any time, from anywhere - for simplified backup and recovery.
Highly secure communications and storage: Securely transmits data using 256-bit AES encryption, VPN tunneling and digital certificates for offsite storage of backup data.
Subscription service: Provides secure off-site data storage in our partner's secure facilities, instant scalability and unmatched ease of use, and requires no capital investment.
A fully managed service: Data backups are monitored 24x7x365 through our Service Operations Center.
